Elevating MSP Efficiency: Embracing Automated Reporting

In managed services, time is a finite resource what’s use determines success. Yet, for many, the essential task of reporting can become time-consuming, bogged down by processes that are as outdated as they are labor-intensive.

Valuable hours squandered gathering data, compiling reports, and triple-checking for errors—time that could otherwise fuel strategic initiatives and drive business growth.

But what if you could reclaim those lost hours? A world where reports generate themselves, where insights land in your inbox on schedule.

Through the power of automated reporting from our business intelligence dashboards, this is possible.

The Importance of Efficient Reporting in MSPs

Efficiency isn’t just a buzzword for MSPs, it can propel a company from good to great.

Automated Reporting: The Game-Changer

In the quest to provide efficiency for MSPs, MSPbots unveils a feature that redefines reporting within the MSP industry. This innovation is a scheduled reporting feature that provides users with control over when and how they receive their data insights.

This allows users to dictate specific conditions, down to the precise timing and frequency of their report deliveries. With MSPbots, a user can decide to start their week with a fresh report every Monday morning or end it with a comprehensive dashboard every Friday evening. The choice is in the user’s hands, and the process is completely automated.

The data presented can be as broad or as tailored as necessary, depending on the unique mapping set by/for the email recipient. This means that users have the flexibility to opt for a bird’s-eye view of their data or a laser-focused report containing company-specific metrics.

The impact of this automation is multifaceted: MSPs can bid farewell to the tedious, error-prone tasks of manual report generation and distribution. By setting up automated reports that arrive at regular, expected intervals, MSPs ensure their clients are always equipped with the latest information, fostering a sense of reliability and trust.

MSPbots doesn’t just offer this for a handful of reports; this feature spans across all apps, BI packages, and applicable integrations within its ecosystem, ensuring a comprehensive reporting experience.

Among these integrations include ConnectWise, Autotask, Halo, Kaseya, and more.

To maintain the integrity and security of data, only users with admin permissions can create these reports and dashboards. Those without the necessary permissions must reach out to their administrator to tap into this potent feature, thereby adding another layer of data reporting security ensuring there are no unexpected or accidental edits to filters deployed.

With the capabilities of MSPbots’ scheduled reporting, MSPs unlock a new level of efficiency and client service—a true game-changer in the industry.

How Automated Reporting Works

Setting up automated reporting within MSPbots is a process designed to empower administrators with the ability to schedule and dispatch insightful reports with ease. Here’s how you can do it step by step:

Open the MSPbots app with administrator access and head straight to Dashboards in the menu. Click on the Schedule Report icon to begin crafting the future of your reporting.

Elevating MSP Efficiency: Embracing Automated Reporting

Upon clicking the +New button, the New Schedule window appears. This is where you give your scheduled report a name.

The process brings you to an email-centric delivery system. It’s direct and uncomplicated. You select from the Email recipient(s) dropdown, picking out the stakeholders who’ll receive the report. For broader coverage, you can add a few more emails to the CC or BCC fields.

The next step is to determine what type of report you wish to send: Send filtered dashboard for the associated company of each recipient. Or, if your report demands specificity, configure the slicer to the Company query parameter, ensuring that each recipient gets data that’s relevant to them alone.

As you set the Frequency of the report be mindful of different time zones that might apply to your recipients. The Advanced Scheduler gives you the granularity to get this just right. Then, determine the format of your report—PDF for a fixed copy, or a shareable link for interactive engagement.

You’re almost there. The From field is next, where you select the sender’s email to establish the source of the report. After that, you craft a subject line that speaks to the content.

Before you click Save, you have one last choice: to keep the email footer or remove it for a cleaner look.

You’ve now set up an automated report. It’s ready to go out on schedule, with the right information for the right people. The Scheduled tab confirms your setup—report name, frequency, next scheduled time, and recipients—all neatly organized.

This is a step towards a new standard in your MSP’s operational efficiency, where the reporting takes care of itself, and you can focus on what truly moves your business forward.
